Historic Recordings - Philadelphia

This feature is dedicated to historic recordings released by the Philadelphia Orchestra. The set covers eight decades, starting with Leopold Stokowski's early years as music director and ending with recent recordings under the orchestra's current music director, Wolfgang Sawallisch. Being dedicated to old recordings, the radio program includes recordings made between 1917 and 1969. Arturo Toscanini can be heard talking to the Philadelphia Orchestra as he leads a rehearsal as guest conductor.
