Adam Unsworth

At age 32, the American French horn player Adam Unsworth has already achieved a highly-desired position - he plays with the world-famous Philadelphia Orchestra. In his spare time, Unsworth uses his strong lungs for different purposes. Being a Marathon runner, he has by now participated in 15 races, including the prestigious Chicago Marathon, where the current world record was set five years ago. Unsworth is ambitious. With his best personal time of 2 hrs. and 37 minutes, he would have easily won the Gold in the first Modern Olympic Games. The orchestras German music director, Wolfgang Sawallisch, was supposedly a bit incredulous when he first learned about Unsworth's hobby, which is not too common among professional musicians. But long distance running is the ideal exercise for wind players, says Adam Unsworth. Georg Hirsch reports.
