Worries over Charles Ives' House

Music lovers in the United States and fans of the American composer Charles Ives all over the world are upset: A country house where Ives spent the last decades of his life is at risk of demolition. The composer's grandson, who had last lived in the house, put it up for sale a year ago, and it was not long until anxiety began to spread that Charles Ives' former residency would fall into the hands of an insensitive nouveau riche buyer who might remodel, or even tear down the building. The U.S.-based Charles Ives Society joined forces with like-minded individuals to fight the loss of the house. However, a private individual just acquired the place. Georg Hirsch has been following up on the fight over the former country residence of Charles Ives.
